An amazing part of Canada to explore

16-Dec-2022

An amazing part of Canada to explore hosted by 2 fantastic guides who nimbly balanced the needs of the group. The info shared prior to the trip ensured we were well prepared. The paddling and pace were more then manageable. The food and snacks were great. The folks we met in our group were diverse, welcoming and each brought gifts and interests that made the experience even better. Can’t recommend this tour company and this part of Canada enough!!!

Amazing River Trip

Did the Teslin River canoe trip with Ruby Range and was most impressed with the quality of the guides and the well-prepared nature of the trip. These folks know what they are doing and are highly recommended.

Exceptional Wilderness Canoe Adventure

31-Jul-2022

I recently completed my third wilderness canoe trip with Ruby Range. (My first ended with a medical evacuation by helicopter when a staph infection on my finger went septic; it was swift and flawless.) My recent trip on the Beaver River was terrific, and just what I needed to recover from the boredom and isolation of the COVID pandemic. The scenery was spectacular, of course, my fellow paddlers were great company, the food was outstanding (barbecued ribs......on our NINTH night out!)....and guides Attila and Freddy far exceeded my expectations with their skills and knowledge, hard work, culinary abilities, and kind attention to all our wants and needs. Hoping to take another Ruby Range trip in 2023, when I'll be 75 years old.

Gold Rush Tour has been awesome!

31-Aug-2022

I did the "Goldrush Tour" - a combination of paddling and hiking - and had a great time in the Yukon and Alaska. It has been amazing time on Teslin and Yukon River as well in in the beautiful National Parks up north. What a great experience!! The 2 guides Teagen and Aiden took care of us all the time and shared their experience. They both have given good instructions how to cross eddies and rapids. I have always felt safe. Having booked a camping trip in a remote area of Canada, I had expected to travel with little comfort at a basic level. Tents and equipment have been in good condition. I learn how to set up a tent on a pebble beach - a spot I would never have chosen for camping in Europe. And it's nowhere near as uncomfortable as it seemed before. The food cooked in team-effort on a camping stove has been extraordinary. Teagen - if there existed Michelin Stars for outdoor haute cuisine, you would deserve some!! I didn't expect to have pancakes or scrambled eggs for breakfast in the bush. The guides dealt even with several food intolerances including mine. Great job! What I particularly liked about the hiking tours was that Teagen gave suggestions about various opportunities and we decided on a tour together. Different skill levels of the group were taken into account. I really enjoyed the time in the small towns like Dawson City, Chicken, Haines and Skagway where you still can feel the atmosphere of the gold rush a bit. Panning dirt for a few flakes of fine gold was fun. It was very interesting to experience how modern gold mining works (Dawson) as well as to see the historic industrial monuments like the Pedro Dredge (Chicken). I loved the outstanding beauty of the National Parks. The scenery was spectacular. Observing Wildlife was definitely one of my highlights: not only the small animals like squirrels, chipmunks and bird, I even saw a swimming moose and Mama Grizzly and her cubs. Thank you Teagen for showing us your beautiful Yukon - I have had an amazing time.

An adventure of a lifetime

30-Jun-2022

We were a group of 6 women aged from 67-72 and we paddled the Yukon River from Minto to Dawson the first week of June when the river was in full and glorious flood. Raging currents, no beaches, campsites flooded out, river water so full of silt that even finding drinking water was a challenge - our guides Chloe and Federica handled every challenge with smiles and good cheer. And they made delicious meals and snacks for us! Our guides were key to the Yukon River paddle being an adventure of a lifetime for us.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long has the tour company been trading?

Ruby Range Adventure has been in business for over 35 years

Can I join the tour once it has departed?

No, you need to book in advance to join a tour.

Who will be my travelling companions on the tour?

We have guests from all around the world!

Will we see wildlife?

There is a good chance of seeing wildlife all over the Yukon and Alaska. It is impossible to predict when, where and what you will see, but it is very unlikely that you will not see animals. If you are lucky you could encounter a Black or Grizzly Bear, Moose, Caribou, Dear, Fox, Lynx, Bison, Mountain Goats, Sheep, Elk, Coyote, many types of birds, and much more.

Can I book extra nights of hotel accommodation before or after my tour?

Yes you can. You only need to let us know and we will take care of it for you.

Can I buy gear upon arrival in Whitehorse?

Yes, if you are missing something, you can get it in Whitehorse before leaving for your trip. We usually stop at the store for last minute purchases.

I am past 60 years old, can I join a trip?

Of course you can! All our trips are open to everyone as long as they reach the fitness level required.

How bad are the mosquitoes?

Mosquito populations vary according to temperature, rainfall, and wind. Every year is different but if you bring a good repellent and proper clothing, it won’t be a problem.

Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?

Yes, you can decided to book a single room and / or tent on any of our trip. The sigle supplement will apply.

What can be expected in terms of weather?

Our summers are beautiful with a lot of daylight. During June, July and August, you can expect comfortable daytime temperatures ranging from 12°C to 16°C on average. That said, mother nature can be unpredictable and you have to be ready for everything including rain, wind, and potentially snow as well as heat waves. Keep in mind things can change quickly.

What kind of shape do I have to be in?

It really depends what trip you choose. Sightseeing adventures are good for everyone. Hiking, Camping and Adventure trips require a variable level of fitness. See each tour for details.

When is the best time to go to the Yukon & Alaska?

Summer season is probably the easiest way to experience the Yukon and Alaska. From late May to Mid September, temperatures are comfortable and facilities are open to visitors; cultural centers, museums, campgrounds etc.

What documents will I receive before I travel?

You will receive a gear list and all the details related to the tour.

Will the accommodation included meet local health and safety regulations?

Yes, all our partners are meeting local health and safety regulations.
